What is the ROPA method?

The ROPA (Partner Egg Reception) method consists of an assisted reproduction treatment designed specifically for couples of women, where one provides the eggs and the other gestates the pregnancy.

How does the ROPA method work?

One of the parts provides the eggs after ovarian stimulation, which are fertilized with donor sperm through IVF. The resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus of the other couple, who will carry the pregnancy until birth.

What evaluations do we both need?

We perform fertility evaluation for both, including AMH analysis, antral follicle count, basal hormone analysis, uterine evaluation, and genetic studies. We determine who will be the egg donor and who will be the pregnant woman.

How is cycle synchronization coordinated?

We coordinate the preparation where one couple performs ovarian stimulation while the other one prepares their endometrium with hormonal medication. Timing is key to transferring embryos at the optimal time of receptivity.

What advantages does it offer versus other methods?

It allows for both women's biological participation in the creation of their baby, a unique emotional connection during the process, a shared experience of motherhood from conception, and clear legal parenting options for both mothers.

STEP 1

Comprehensive evaluation for both parties

We perform fundamental fertility tests for both women, including AMH tests and antral follicle counts. The evaluation determines who will be optimal as an egg donor and who as a pregnant woman, depending on ovarian reserve and uterine health.

STEP 2

Personalized treatment planning

We developed a treatment plan considering age as a determining factor, quality and quantity of available eggs, uterine health of both, and selection of a sperm donor compatible with desired physical characteristics.

STEP 3

Cycle preparation and synchronization

We coordinate simultaneous preparation: one couple initiates ovarian stimulation while the other prepares the endometrium with hormonal medication. Precise timing is critical for optimal embryo transfer timing.

STEP 4

Specialized IVF process

We perform follicular puncture to obtain eggs, fertilization with selected donor sperm, embryo culture and selection of better embryos with AI for transfer to the recipient uterus.

STEP 5

Shared transfer and tracking

Embryo transfer to the pregnant couple with both present, comprehensive medical follow-up during pregnancy, preservation of excess embryos for future attempts.
